E. McColley , father of Eric, was born on Dec. 11, 1947 in Chicago, IL.
John served enlisted in the United Sates Marine Corps in 1968 and
served with a Marine rifle company in Vietnam. He attained the rank of
Corporal before his separation from active duty in 1970. He then served
in the ready reserve until he was honorably discharged in 1974. John
attended University of Maryland, and in 1977 was married to Susan Banks.
The couple moved to Gettysburg, PA. where they raised there two
children, Cheryl and Eric. In 2007 John and Susan sold there home of 30
years in Gettysburg and moved to Grandy,NC where they presently reside.
John is a member of American Legion Post 202, Gettysburg,Pa.,The Marine
Corps League, Battlefield Detachment 704 Gettysburg,PA., Veterans of
Foreign Wars Post 6060, Elizabeth City, NC, the Fraternal Order of
Eagles, Kill Devil Hills, NC. and the Harley Owners Group, Kitty Hawk,
Vice President - Susan McColley
B. McColley, mother of Eric, was born Oct. 17, 1951 in Halifax, Nova
Scotia. She attended the University of Maryland, graduating with a
degree in Education in 1974. In 1977, Susan was married to John
McColley, and moved to Gettysburg, PA. Since then, Susan has spent her
time raising and caring for children Cheryl and Eric, restoring the
family's 1880's farm house and working with her husband John. Susan is a
member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion Post 202 in
Gettysburg, Pa, the Ladies auxiliary of The Fraternal Order of Eagles in
Kill Devil Hills, NC and the Ladies auxiliary of the Veterans of
Foreign Wars Post 6060, Elizabeth City, NC and the Harley Owners Group,
Kitty Hawk, NC
Secretary/Treasurer - Cheryl McColley Newbanks
M. Newbanks, sister of Eric, was born Sept.. 1, 1980 in Gettysburg, PA.
She graduated from Gettysburg Area High School in 1998 where she was a
member of the band and school swim team. After high school, Cheryl
joined the U.S. Navy in the delayed entry program and served aboard the
USS Enterprise during two Persian Gulf tours. She was married to Kiel
Newbanks in 2005. In September of 2006, Cheryl was honorably discharged
from the Navy, and currently resides in Hampton, Va. with her husband
Kiel and son's Ethan and Eric.
Clark: Born and raised in Baltimore, Md. Stan graduated from
Catonsville High School in 1969. After graduation he enlisted in the
United States Marine Corps and served on active duty for six years
attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. During his enlistment, he served
with the 2nd and 3rd Marine Divisions as well as recruiting duty in the
Harrisburg, PA. area. Stan was honorably discharged in 1976 and married
the former Candice M. Parker of Lanham, MD. in 1977.
1985 The Clarks moved to Gettysburg, PA. where they currently reside.
Stan worked in the real estate and construction industries until 2003
and is currently involved in the antique and militaria business. He is
an active member in the Albert Lentz American Legion Post 202, the
Gettysburg Battlefield Detachment of the Marine Corps League, Forty
& Eight Voiture #731 and the VFW Post #15 Home Association. Stan is
active in various Veterans activities and programs, in particular the
Wounded Warriors and Scholarship Programs. Most recently, Stan lead the
drive to organize and fund The Sgt. Eric McColley Scholarship of Honor
Award. This annual award was presented for the first time on May 29,
2007 to a graduating Senior at Gettysburg High School.
Farren: Don was born in Montgomery County Maryland on May 26, 1949. Don
enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He served on active duty
from 1968-1970 and ready reserve after that until he was honorably
discharged in May of 1974.. He achieved the rank of Corporal and is a
Vietnam Veteran. He has been a self employed practicing CPA for more
than thirty years and is licensed in Maryland and the District of
Columbia. He and his wife Carolyn have been married for thirty five
years and currently live in Kensington, MD. They have three adult
children, Laura, Leslie and Mark. Don is a graduate of Benjamin Franklin
University, The College for Financial Planning and is also a member of
the George Washington University Alumni Association.
